A few weeks ago, our good friends, the Tenney's, invited us to go up to their family's cabin for the weekend with them, the Willis' and Clarkson's. Didn't have to ask me twice. We've been trying to work out a time to get up there for years and when it actually happened, we jumped on it. We packed up the kids and the car and were off. We drove up on a Friday evening and watched the temperature drop from a nice 70 something down to 20 something. It.was.cold. But I LOOOVED it! Opportunities to wear real winter clothes are far and few between around here, so we were all about it. We had a fabulous time enjoying the beauty of the outdoors, fishing at the pond down the lane, riding quads, s'mores, lots and lots of food, quality family-togetherness, and being in great company with plenty of laughs and late nights. The only thing that would have made it better would have been if our kids hadn't forgotten how to sleep!!! OH MY GOSH!! Those were probably the 2 worst night-sleeps of my life. Macey-our little rockstar sleeper, suddenly turned a 180, and Crew, well he went from "not great" to "AWFUL". I think I collectively got 7 hours of sleep that weekend. The 2nd night we all 4 ended up in our bed at one point. Macey managed to sleep with us the entire night, for the first time ever. I have a huge appreciation for king-sized beds now.
We still had a great time, baggy eyes and all. Macey fished for the first time, both kids rode quads for the first time. It was so nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and just relax. It was so so quiet up there and really, really secluded. We re-connected with old friends and made new ones. Thanks for the fun weekend Tenney's and putting up with us "city folk", we definitely need to work on our outdoors-y skills!
The trout Benton caught.
