New Years in NYC

Benton and I just got back from our AMAZING trip to NYC. So, here are some of the highlights from our trip, I'll try to limit it, there's just so much though! New York is an incredible place and there's TONS of stuff to do, we didn't come close to getting it all done, but we squeezed in a LOT. Thank you again Amber and Doug for letting us come you are wicked awesome and I miss you guys already!! We hope you get in some good rest before the baby comes.

So, before I post the pics, here are a few things I learned about NYC while I was there:
It's so HUGE but everything is so close together, weird, but very handy
  • You have to be insane, or very drunk, to brave New Years Eve in Times Square
  • If you're one of the sane ppl that chooses not to stand like a sardine in Times Sq. for 8 hours, you'll find it's the only night the NYC sleeps, everything shuts down early, everything! Except for one really good Italian place that delivers, thank goodness. It's an odd feeling being in the city and having nothing to do.
  • It gets cold, understatement, it is Bone chilling Freezing!!!! especially by the water, I suggest you steer clear of that during winter months.
  • The colder it gets the more children you see without faces. (the result of parents' extreme bundling)
  • New York has some GOOD eats, but it turns out chicken, bleu cheese, honeymustard and buffalo sauce isn't a good combo.
  • From my observations, there are far more foreigners than Americans there, we heard every language out there and no NY accents.

On to the highlights:

Top-of-the-Rock observatory (the roof of Rockafeller Center 69 floors up, awesome view!)

Dinner at Max Brenner's "Chocolate by the bald man" it's gooood

Being dorks on the subway The church building we attempted to go to church at. We were there at the right time, but there was no church going on...... but it's a sweet building huh?

In front of the Met, that place is massive!!! And you don't have to pay $20 to get in!

Being friends with the 3 bears

On a bridge in Central park

Times Square, New Year's Eve Day, note all the people

Time Square New Years Day... Where did all the people go???

Ringing in the New Year with Amber and Doug

View from the Marriot Marquee, that is the stage the performers used on New Years eve i.e. Carrie Underwood and Lifehouse

Chattin it up with Oprah

Benton with his Hero

Me with my hero, JK, but who doesn't love CAptain Jack Sparrow??

Right before we saw Wicked! It's AWESOME by the way!

Me with Natalie Moralis, my FAVORITE Today Show anchor

The scandelous window display at Daffy's.

Right after we saw Les Mis, again, an AMAZING show!!

That is all!!! Thanks again Amber and Doug!!!!!

it looks like you had an absolutely fabulous time in new york. i especially like the times square pics on new years eve and new years day. looks like you made the smart decision to not be out there at midnight!

We had so much fun hanging out with you guys on christmas night - we should have done it again another night, oh well :(

michelle won the cook-off - have you had the sweet corn tamale cakes from cheesecake factory? well if you haven't you should go and if you have and know how good they are you should ask michelle for the recipe. in any case, that was the winning entry. mmmmmmm
